Last night people were drying their socks over the fire. We had an indoor fireplace. During the night it poured for a good while. Soon after I left the shelter in the morning, it started raining. And it rained all day until about 4:30 when I came across a nice campsite by a stream and decided to stop for the night. In the rain you can splash right through puddles. Everything gets wet and it’s gonna stay wet until it stops raining and you can dry things with body heat or the sun. It makes no sense to dry things in my sleeping bag because they’re just going to get wet again tomorrow, plus I don’t want to get my down wet. I feel I stopped too early, only 14 ish miles, but it’s more tiring to hike in the rain. All the slipping and sliding and being extra careful.
